- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup whole milk, warm
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
Filling:
- 1 cup apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- ½ cup pecans, chopped
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Icing (optional):
- ½ cup cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk or heavy cream
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
In a bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and the egg. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes, then cover and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour). - Prepare the Filling:
Roll the dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter on top, then sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, diced apples, and chopped pecans evenly over the surface. - Roll and Slice:
Roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. - Bake:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. - Make the Icing (Optional):
In a bowl, whisk together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls.

- To make the rolls extra sticky, add a glaze of brown sugar and butter at the bottom of the pan before placing the rolls in.
