Description

These Apple Pecan Cinnamon Rolls are a sweet, cozy treat combining soft, fluffy dough with spiced apple and crunchy pecan filling. Perfect for fall mornings or special occasions, they are topped with a delicious icing for an indulgent finish.

Ingredients

Scale
    • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
    • ¼ cup granulated sugar
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ½ cup whole milk, warm
    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 large egg

    Filling:

    • 1 cup apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
    • ½ cup pecans, chopped
    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
    • ⅓ cup brown sugar
    • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

    Icing (optional):

    • ½ cup cream cheese, softened
    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 12 tbsp milk or heavy cream
    • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
In a bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and the egg. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes, then cover and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  2. Prepare the Filling:
Roll the dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter on top, then sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, diced apples, and chopped pecans evenly over the surface.
  3. Roll and Slice:
Roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  4. Bake:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Make the Icing (Optional):
In a bowl, whisk together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls.

Notes

    • You can refrigerate the dough overnight and bake it the next day.
    • To make the rolls extra sticky, add a glaze of brown sugar and butter at the bottom of the pan before placing the rolls in.
    • For a vegan version, replace butter with plant-based alternatives and use non-dairy milk.
