  • Author: Ariana Bender
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 10-12 biscuits 1x

Description

Sausage Cheese Biscuits are a delicious combination of savory sausage and melted cheese, all wrapped in a flaky, buttery biscuit. These homemade biscuits make the perfect addition to any breakfast or brunch table and can be enjoyed fresh from the oven or reheated later.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup cooked sausage (crumbled)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder (if using).
  • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the sausage and cheese, mixing until evenly distributed.
  • Add milk and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and pat it down to about 1-inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits.
  • Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 1 inch apart.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use sharp cheddar cheese.
  • You can substitute the sausage for other proteins like bacon or turkey sausage if preferred.
  • Make sure the butter is cold for flaky biscuits.
  • You can freeze the unbaked biscuits and bake them from frozen. Just add a few extra minutes to the baking time.
